The invention is an Automated Notification System (ANS) based upon location apparatus and network as the Global Positioning System (GPS). Notifications are broadcasted at preprogrammed time to multiple receivers based upon the location of the broadcasting moving vehicles and the location of the receivers. The receivers which can be GPS enable phones, pagers, land phones, personal computers, electronic sign displays or any one way or two-way radio receivers will get notification of the arrival time of the moving vehicle at a time setup by the user. The broadcasting moving vehicles holds a notification computer with the route information, the scheduled stops and the time delay before arrival to the stop the ANS has to notify the user.
Potential Application of the invention:
1- School Bus
A school bus could be equipped with the broadcast module, and the students who ride the bus given paging devices. The students will preprogram when they want to be paged based on the time they need to walk or drive to the pickup location. It will be useful in the wintertime because the students will spend less time in the cold weather waiting for the bus. The system could also be used as a notification mean for a parent in charge of picking up his or her child at the bus drop off location.
2- Taxi services
A co-sharing taxi services can have request for pickup at multiple locations. The first rider will get in the taxi and give the destination. The taxi driver will enter the destination into the taxi computer which will transmit the destination to the administration center which in return will send back all the requests for pickup by other users in close proximity of the proposed route. The taxi ANS will then send notification for pickup to the others riders at a preprogrammed time. Even if the rider is outside with a GPS enable phone/device, his/her location can be transmitted to the taxi administration center as part of the information in the request for pickup
.3- Delivery services
Another application could be delivery services, which can use the system to reduce the time spent at each stop. Customers will be given paging devices if necessary and a page will be sent if there is a delivery for them. The page can also be sent to any phone. Delivery services could give a discount to their customers if they agreed to speed up the receiving of goods. One way of doing this is to have someone ready to take possession of goods before the delivery truck arrival. In urban cities, for example, a customer in a high-rise building could go down to the first floor to take possession of goods without wasting the driver or delivery employee's valuable time.
